Berlin, Staatsbibliothek, Petermann I 284; Gotha MS orient. A 39 (1183), 47 (1194), 305 (1168), 307 (1178), 576 (1179), 630, 832 (1182), 844 (1197), 1224 (1188), 1324 (1172), 1350 (1188), 1407 (1186), 1624 (1186), 1633 (1202), 1987 (1198), 2038 (1178), 2040 (1183), 2053 (1209), 2075 (1191), 2097, 2100, 2104 (1185), 2124 (1171), 2165 (1191), 2168 (1167), 2172 (1203), 2314 (1167), 2320 (1172), 2344 (1180), 2660 (1190), 2702 (1189), 2755 (1191), 2774 (1187); Leipzig Vollers 827 (1201); Paris, BnF, Arabe 3838 (1206). All Mss in Gotha were purchased between 1807 and 1808 in Egypt by Ulrich Jasper Seetzen, which, besides the nisba al-Azharī, points to an origin in Egypt and likely sets a terminus ante quem for his death. Thus, he is also likely the author Aḥmad al-Ḥifnāwī al-Bishārī, who, on 16 Shawwāl 1187, finished the holograph copy of his collection of anecdotes now preserved in Dublin, Chester Beatty Library Ar. 4853 (see catalog Arberry, Arthur J.: A handlist of the Arabic manuscripts. Volume VI, Dublin 1963, p. 118). |
